In place of the rear seats, it featured a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, a mid-engine layout, and lightweight aluminum and plastic body panels.
The factory car won the first World Rally Championship in 1981 and was a regular contender for the top spots thereafter.
