About the Toyota Celica LB Turbo Gr. 5
The Toyota Celica LB Turbo was a Group 5 race car developed for the 1977 DRM (German Racing Championship). Based on the Celica Liftback road car, the vehicle featured aerodynamic components such as heavily flared fenders and a rear wing, and utilized numerous body parts made of glass-fiber reinforced plastic (FRP). It employed a heavily modified body and a 2,090 cc inline-four turbo engine (DOHC) producing 560 hp. The car made its debut in July 1977 and claimed its first victory in October of the same year, beating the Porsche 935.
