Based on the Porsche 930 Turbo, the Type 934 Turbo RSR was developed for international sports car racing in 1976. A total of 31 racing cars were built.
That same year, a 934—featuring the German company Vaillant as its main sponsor and a distinctive cobalt-green livery—competed in the DRM (German Racing Championship). It enjoyed an outstanding racing season, winning Races 2, 4, and 10, and ultimately secured the overall victory in Division 1 at the end of the season with French driver Bob Wollek.
