The Consolidated PBY Catalina is a flying boat and amphibious aircraft manufactured in the 1930s and 1940s
The PBY was the most built seaplane with around 3300 aircraft built.
During World War II, PBYs were used in anti-submarine warfare, bomber patrols, convoy escorts, search and rescue missions (particularly air-sea rescue), and cargo transport.
The type was used in almost all theaters of operations during the Second World War.
