The Bell P-39 Airacobra was one of the most important American fighter aircraft when the United States entered World War II.
The P-39 was used with great success by the Soviet Air Force, which achieved the highest number of kills per pilot attributed to a U.S. fighter type.
Some Bell P-39Qs were converted to two-seaters with dual controls for use as advanced trainers under the designation RP-39Q.
