The 601 model was produced unchanged for over 25 years.
With over 2.8 million units built, it became the most popular car in East Germany and ultimately a symbol of the collapse of the Eastern Bloc after footage of thousands of East Germans crossing the border in their Trabants following the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 was broadcast worldwide.
This kit depicts the most common sedan version of the Trabant, as it was built in the second half of the 1980s and was also used as a rally car in competitions in the GDR and other Eastern Bloc countries during this period.
Four different marking options are included in the decals, allowing for detailed recreations of the colorful vehicles that participated in various rallies between 1987 and 1989.
