For casualty transport, the ATMP was fitted with a special stretcher mount that allowed NATO-standard stretchers to be securely attached. The vehicle's open design facilitated access to patients and allowed for quick loading and unloading. At the same time, the absence of an enclosed cabin meant that casualties could only be protected from the elements by tarpaulins or weather covers. Consequently, the ATMP was not intended as a full-fledged ambulance, but rather as a highly mobile CASEVAC vehicle designed to transport the injured out of the danger zone to further medical care as quickly as possible.
