The Waffenträger (Weapons Carrier) Wiesel 1 was delivered in the years 1990 to 1992 to the anti-tank parachute battalions of the airborne brigades and to the heavy companies of the mountain infantry and infantry battalions.
Initially in a number of 210 Wiesel 1 TOW and 133 Wiesel 1 MK with the 20mm machine gun MK 20 Rh 202.
Vehicles are upgraded with various combat value increases during their service life,
The Wiesel 1 A1 TOW was fitted with an MG3 as secondary armament.
Finally, the Wiesel 1 A2 TOW received the Army Command and Information System (FüInfoSysHeer)
The vehicles were also used during the Afghanistan deployment of the Bundeswehr (decals included).
