The Panzerkampfwagen V "Panther" was undoubtedly one of the most famous tanks of World War II. It was developed as a direct response to the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks, which were significantly superior to the now-obsolete Panzer III and Panzer IV on the Eastern Front in terms of performance and firepower. Powered by a 700 hp Maybach V12 engine, it was armed with the highly effective 75 mm KwK 42 gun, which was particularly well-suited for anti-tank warfare. Thanks to its ingenious design, which optimized protection—through the use of sloped frontal armor—mobility, speed, and firepower, the Panther is considered one of the best tanks of World War II. It saw action on all major fronts, from Italy and France to the Eastern Front. The "D" version was the first to see combat.
