The Abrams X is a technology demonstrator of the M1 Abrams from General Dynamics Land Systems.
It features a lightweight Watervliet Arsenal XM360 smoothbore gun with a new muzzle brake, an autoloader that reduces the crew to three soldiers, an unmanned turret, a hybrid diesel-electric Cummins ACE power unit that offers 50% more fuel efficiency, a 30mm XM914 autocannon in a remote-controlled weapon station, active trophy protection systems with three launchers, an augmented reality suite that would improve the crew's situational awareness thanks to cameras and sensors mounted on the outside of the tank, a stealth mode in electric operation, etc.
