The USS Shamrock Bay (CVE-84) was a *Casablanca*-class escort carrier commissioned in 1944; she saw service primarily in the Pacific theater during World War II. With a length of approximately 156 meters, a top speed of 19 knots, and an air group of about 28 aircraft, she was designed for escorting fleet formations, providing close air support, and protecting amphibious landings.

After initial transport duties in the Atlantic, she was transferred to the Pacific due to the high attrition rate among escort carriers. There, her aircraft supported the landings in the Lingayen Gulf on Luzon, the battle for Iwo Jima, and the invasion of Okinawa. Despite numerous kamikaze attacks, the ship remained undamaged; flying well over a thousand combat sorties, she made a significant contribution to supporting ground troops and protecting Allied supply convoys.

Following the war, the *Shamrock Bay* transported American soldiers back home as part of Operation Magic Carpet. She was decommissioned in 1946 and later reclassified as an auxiliary aircraft carrier, though she was never reactivated. In 1958, she was finally stricken from the Naval Vessel Register and scrapped. The USS Shamrock Bay received three battle stars for her service in the Pacific.
