The achievement behind this book is remarkable. It required more than fifty trips to public museums and private collections across Europe and the USA to precisely measure surviving Panther Ausf. G tanks and their components, as well as thousands of hours of research in various archives and over 1,100 hours spent solely on creating the CAD drawings.

The result is a book that traces the entire history of the Ausf. G—from the design meeting at M.A.N. on May 4, 1943, to the final units assembled at Daimler-Benz in April 1945—covering every aspect of development, production, modification, and combat service. The production of hulls and turret shells by subcontractors is also addressed, with lists of observed serial number ranges. Special emphasis is placed on Panthers equipped with infrared gear, including drawings of the FG 1250 infrared searchlight and the targeting optic unit. Information regarding combat experience is based on troop records from all fronts as well as eyewitness accounts, covering the period up to the Battle of the Bulge and the final defensive battles of 1945.
