The Messerschmitt Bf 110 is a twin-engine heavy fighter designed to protect bombers from enemy fighters in hostile airspace. The Bf 110 prototype made its maiden flight on May 12, 1936.
Unlike other variants in this series, the Bf 110 E was designed as a fighter-bomber. It could carry either four 50 kg bombs under the wings or two 1,000 kg bombs under the fuselage. Additionally, various modifications transformed it into a capable night fighter.
