Due to Japanese national circumstances at the time, the bomb guidance system and air-to-air refueling system were removed.
Otherwise, the aircraft is virtually identical to the American F-4E model.
The F-4EJ was produced in Japan during the project's lifetime, and the last aircraft produced was the last of all Phantoms. (Total number of Phantoms produced: 5,195)
The F-4EJ was stationed at bases throughout Japan, but due to its age, it was partially converted into the F-4EJ Kai and reconnaissance models such as the RF-4EJ.
