The F/A-18C "Hornet" is a versatile multirole fighter jet of the US Navy and Marine Corps, designed for both air superiority and ground attack missions. Manufactured by McDonnell Douglas (later acquired by Boeing), it belongs to the first generation of the Hornet family and entered service in the 1980s.

The "F/A" in the designation stands for "Fighter/Attack," reflecting the aircraft's dual role. The F/A-18C is twin-engined, reaches speeds exceeding Mach 1.8, and is specifically designed for carrier operations. It features robust landing gear, an arresting hook, and folding wings for use in confined spaces.

Armament includes an internal 20 mm cannon and a wide array of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons, including guided missiles and precision-guided bombs. Advanced avionics systems, including radar and targeting systems, enable operations day and night, and in all weather conditions.

The F/A-18C has seen service in numerous conflicts, including the Gulf War, the Balkans, and the Middle East. It is considered extremely reliable, easy to maintain, and versatile.
