The 601 model was produced unchanged for over 25 years.
With over 2.8 million units built, it became the most popular vehicle in East Germany and ultimately a symbol of the collapse of the Eastern Bloc after footage of thousands of East Germans crossing the border in their Trabis following the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 was broadcast worldwide.
This kit represents the most common sedan variant built in the second half of the 1980s and features some optional elements from the 601 S version, such as fog lights and reversing lights.
Two types of blue light systems are also mounted on the roof.
The decal sheet contains markings for six different vehicles, including the one from the popular 1991 German comedy film.
