HMS Scylla was built between 1939 and 1942 as the eleventh Dido-class submarine for the Royal Navy and was initially assigned to the British fleet. In September 1942, she was transferred to the Arctic Ocean as a fleet support ship. In November, she participated in Operation Torch. In December, she moved to the Bay of Biscay to break the German naval blockade. On January 1, 1943, she sank the DKM Rhakotis off Cape Finisterre in the northwest. In June, HMS Scylla participated in an attack on the German U-boat escort in the Bay of Biscay. In September, she took part in Operation Avalanche, the Allied landing at Salerno. In June 1944, she supported the Normandy landings. HMS Scylla was scrapped in Barrow in 1950.
