The M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle entered service with the US Army in 1981. It was developed as part of the long-term "Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle" program, whose goal was to develop a protected and highly maneuverable transport for mechanized units of the US Army. The vehicle was named after Omar Bradley, the legendary American general of World War II.

The M2 Bradley serves a dual purpose: transporting motorized infantry units in combat and providing fire support. It features a traditional design with its engine positioned in the forward hull for better crew protection. The hull and turret are constructed of an aluminum alloy reinforced with other metals for increased damage resistance. This armor provides all-around protection against 14.5 mm armor-piercing incendiary projectiles.

The Bradley's primary weapon is a 25 mm M242 automatic cannon capable of penetrating 66 mm of homogeneous steel armor. To combat heavy armored vehicles, a twin launcher for BGM-71 TOW missiles is mounted on the left side of the turret. Over its service life, the vehicle has undergone various modifications and improvements that have significantly improved its protection capabilities.
