The 30.5 cm M.11 mortar was a large-caliber howitzer, of which the Austro-Hungarian Army already possessed 24 at the beginning of the First World War.
The howitzer was used not only by the Austro-Hungarian Army on the Russian and Italian fronts, but also by the German Wehrmacht. The Germans borrowed four batteries, each consisting of two guns and crews, and deployed them quite successfully during the sieges of the Belgian fortresses of Namur, Liège, Antwerp, and Givet, as well as during the German shelling of the fortresses of Verdun and Toul in France and Osowiec on the Eastern Front.
The kit allows the modeler to build the gun either in firing position with the barrel pointing upwards or in loading position with the barrel lying horizontally.
The kit includes a photo-etched fret.
