In 1968, the British Ministry of Defence had 72 long-wheelbase Land Rovers Series 2A converted to SAS specifications by Marshalls of Cambridge.

Among other things, the following were fitted

four fuel tanks of 25 gallons each
a reinforced chassis
a reinforced suspension
sand tyres
differential protection front and rear
both doors and the windscreen were removed
as well as the roof
A variety of weapons and accessories have been added

Great model but watch out!

I loved assembling this cute little model with plenty of accessories. Some hints: 1. Paint and insert the bottom of the driver before mounting the driving wheel, then add upper body and move arms in right position to embrace driving wheel. 2. The assembly notice forgets to mention the hand break and gear shift. 3. Many of the the small accesories (range finder, shovel and pickel) presuppose prefabricated holes - they are missing!

1:35 scale Tamiya S.A.S. Land Rover Pink Panther, kit # 35076, is a legendary classic kit on its own right. S.A.S. Land Rover Pink Panther kit was introduced first time in 1976 by Tamiya and has now 50 years under its belt. The kit is quite simple in structure and despite its age, the parts have a very good casting quality as the traces of mold wear and rough edges are almost non-existent. The detailing of circa 135 parts is neat. Even 50 yrs ago Tamiya already measured all the things, hence the kit´s dimensions are correct. True that this kit cannot keep up with the current kits of Tamiya itself, Dragon/Cyber Hobby, Magic Factory, Rye Field Model, Trumpeter, Takom, Hobby Boss, AFV Club, ICM etc..., but you either love or hate this nostalgic classic legendary kit. I simply love it. Still highly recommended for all modern military vehicles and warfare fans and modelers.
