Total production is estimated at 1,200 units.
The vehicle was developed in 1946 at the *Atelier de Construction d'Issy-les-Moulineaux* to meet the requirement for an air-transportable vehicle to support paratroopers; the first prototype underwent testing starting in 1948.
The unusual two-part "oscillating turret" is positioned at the rear of the vehicle and accommodates the commander and gunner.
Its equipment included a 75mm gun (modeled after the German L/71 gun of the Panther tank) as well as bulletproof tires.
