The K800 was produced from 1933 to 1938, with 2,600 units for civilian use and 4,692 for military use. In 1934, the civilian Zündapp K800 motorcycle entered service with the Wehrmacht. For this purpose, the design was improved, and several sidecar versions were created. The Zündapp K800 was the only four-cylinder motorcycle in the German army. The boxer engine produced 20 hp at 4,000 rpm. The K800 could reach speeds of up to 100 km/h. The rear wheel was driven by a cardan transmission. Despite its high-torque engine and smooth running, the motorcycle had reliability problems and its off-road capability was not sufficient for the Eastern Front.
