The Sd.Kfz.166 was an armored infantry support gun designed primarily for urban combat, better known by the designation... ...is known as the "Sturmpanzer IV." As the name implies, it was based on the Panzer IV chassis. The Allies nicknamed it the "Brummbär." The new superstructure, mounted on the hull, housed a 15 cm StuH.43 L/12 gun. Developed by Škoda, this weapon fired the same ammunition as the 15 cm s.IG.33 gun; the vehicle carried a total of 38 rounds.

Following the earlier 1:35 scale "Brummbär" kit (mid-production series), Dragon has now released another kit from the same period—this time featuring Zimmerit coating. Since all vehicles produced before September 1944 were coated with anti-magnetic Zimmerit, this detail ensures historical authenticity. Modelers are well aware that applying Zimmerit to a model presents various challenges. Dragon’s latest kit combines convenience with high detail, as the injection-molded texture and pattern of the Zimmerit coating are superbly reproduced using Dragon’s patented process. This is evident, for instance, in the unique radial Zimmerit pattern on the front of the superstructure, which is produced using multi-directional slide-mold technology.

The kit includes separate metal side skirts that feature scale-accurate thickness and can be arranged according to the modeler's preference. Incl. Magic Tracks tracks have also been specially developed for this "mid-production" Brummbär variant. As the distinctive Brummbär saw action in battles such as Kursk, Anzio, Normandy, the Ardennes, and the Warsaw Uprising, it offers modelers a wide range of display options.
