Sherman Mk.III - Battle of El Alamein

The industrial might of the United States guaranteed the production of thousands of M4 Sherman tanks, many of which were transferred to the Allies under the Lend-Lease Act.
Great Britain was one of the main recipients of Shermans - a total of 17,184 vehicles.
The Sherman Mk. III (according to British nomenclature) was an M4A2.
The British used more than 5,000 of these diesel-powered Sherman IIIs with 75 mm guns in World War II.
Many of these tanks took part in the Second Battle of El Alamein in 1942.
