The Daimler Dingo Mk. II and the German Pz.Kpfw. 202(e) were based on the same chassis but differed in version and use. The "Pz.Kpfw. 202(e)" was not an independent German development, but rather the Wehrmacht designation for captured British Dingo Scout Cars. The "(e)" stood for "English."
The Dingo Mk. I was the early version with some unique technical features, such as the original all-wheel steering and certain details on the roof, interior, and driver's position. The later Mk. II version was simplified and made more practical. Many Mk. II vehicles received modifications to the steering, vision ports, and bodywork to facilitate maintenance and production. Overall, the Mk. II was the more widespread and refined variant.
When referring to a German Pz.Kpfw. When referring to a Pz.Kpfw. 202(e), these are usually captured Dingo Mk. I or Mk. II vehicles that were subsequently used by the Wehrmacht. German units often simply added Balkenkreuz markings, tactical symbols, or radio equipment to the vehicles without making any major modifications. Therefore, a Pz.Kpfw. 202(e) could technically have been either a Mk. I or a Mk. II – the German designation describes its use as a captured vehicle, not the specific British sub-version.
