It was built from 1940 to 1958 and was used by the Red Army mainly in the German-Soviet War.
Machine-Building Plant No. 112 is one of the oldest shipbuilding factories in Russia and is located in the Sormovsky district of Gorky.
During the German-Soviet War of 1941-1945, the Krasnoye Sormovo factory produced T-34 medium tanks. The turret for the highly-gunned T-34-85 was designed here in 1943 by V. Kerichev
