The YW-531 is a highly successful light armored personnel carrier produced by China since the late 1960s and widely used by the armored forces of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
The YW-701, derived from the YW-531, features a larger rear compartment and is suitable for command and ambulance duties.
As a command vehicle, the YW-701 can be equipped with several radios and a 12.7 mm Type 54 machine gun.
It was exported to Iraq and used in previous Gulf conflicts.
