The Leopard 2 A4 is a third-generation German main battle tank that entered series production in 1985 and was delivered to the armed forces in stages. It is equipped with a 120 mm Rh120-L44 smoothbore gun by Rheinmetall, capable of firing various types of ammunition, including armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds and multi-purpose high-explosive shells.
Thanks to its advanced fire control system, the Leopard 2 A4 boasts a high first-round hit probability compared to other third-generation tanks. It is currently in service with the armies of various nations and has been deployed in operations including German peacekeeping missions in Kosovo, Turkish military operations in Syria, and most recently in the war in Ukraine.
