To perform mine-clearing tasks, US Army M48 AVLB bridge-layers can be converted into M48 AVLMs using the MICLIC (Mine Clearing Line Charge) system as needed.
This conversion is achieved by mounting the MICLIC units onto the rear of the M48 (with the bridge removed).
