The CV9035NL is the Dutch variant of the Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicle and ranks among the most modern infantry fighting vehicles in Europe. Developed by Hägglunds (now part of BAE Systems), the vehicle was selected in the early 2000s to replace the YPR-765. The first production vehicles were delivered to the Royal Netherlands Army starting in 2007 and have since formed the backbone of Dutch mechanized infantry. Specifically adapted to Dutch requirements, the CV9035NL combines high mobility, effective protection, and potent firepower.

The three-man crew—commander, gunner, and driver—is supplemented by up to seven fully equipped infantry soldiers. Weighing approximately 32 tons, the vehicle is powered by an 810 hp Scania V8 diesel engine, enabling a top speed of around 70 km/h. Its modern running gear, featuring hydropneumatic suspension, provides excellent off-road capability and high driving stability. The modular armor system offers protection against direct fire, artillery shrapnel, and mines, and can be augmented with additional protection modules depending on the mission profile.

The main armament consists of a 35mm Bushmaster III autocannon capable of firing both armor-piercing and programmable airburst ammunition. With minor modifications, the weapon system can even be converted to 50 mm caliber. The armament is complemented by a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun and smoke grenade launchers. Thanks to modern thermal imaging systems, a digital fire control system, and "hunter-killer" capability, the commander and gunner can detect and engage targets independently of one another, significantly reducing reaction times in combat.

The CV9035NL has been deployed in international exercises and NATO operations, proving its worth during the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, among others. To ensure its long-term operational readiness, the Dutch fleet is currently undergoing a comprehensive combat capability upgrade. This modernization includes, among other features, a new D35 turret, a modern sensor system, the Iron Fist active protection system, integrated Spike-LR2 anti-tank guided missiles, and a completely renewed digital vehicle architecture. These improvements are intended to keep the CV9035NL in service until at least 2039 and ensure it remains capable of meeting future battlefield threats.
