The Sd.Kfz.10, one of the lighter types, was designed to power small, towed anti-tank or anti-aircraft guns.
This 4.5 m long and 4.9 t vehicle from Demag had a payload capacity of 1 ton, or eight soldiers. Power came from a 6-cylinder Maybach engine coupled to a transmission with seven forward and three reverse gears.
Notably, this half-track type was the only one to use a hull instead of a frame.
Demag delivered the first vehicles in 1938, but ultimately seven factories were involved in the production of approximately 14,000 units.
One of the frequently used weapons was the 5 cm PaK 38 anti-tank gun, first used by the German armed forces on the Eastern Front in 1941 to counter the formidable threat posed by the T-34 and KW-1 tanks.
The gun remained in service for the remainder of the war.
