The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23BN ("Flogger-H") is a Soviet adjustable-wing ground attack aircraft that entered service in 1973.
Based on the MiG-23B, it is powered by the R-29-300 engine, which is also used in modern fighter variants, and features Type 3 wings.
There were other minor changes to the electronics and avionics, and several more were made during the long production run, which lasted until 1985 and during which 624 examples were built.
Considered a transitional model by the Soviets, most were exported, and only a few served in the front-line aviation regiments of the Soviet Air Force.
A stripped-down variant was sold to customers in the Third World and proved quite popular and effective.
