A new 1:6 scale weapon kit is available. Item number 75023 depicts a German mortar, a variant perhaps less well-known than others used in World War II. The short 8 cm GrW 42 mortar (Kz 8cm GrW 42 for short) was developed as a lighter version of the standard 8 cm GrW 34 mortar and was commonly referred to by soldiers as the "stubby thrower." Its smaller size made it particularly useful for German paratroopers, who needed a weapon that was easier to move but still offered more penetrating power than the diminutive 5 cm GrW 36. It had a shorter barrel than the standard 8 cm mortar (barrel length 747 mm), but could still fire a grenade 3.5 times heavier than the earlier 5 cm mortar twice as far. At 26.5 kg, it also weighed only half as much as the leGrW 36. Its maximum range was approximately 1100 m. Produced from 1941 to 1945, the kz 8cm GrW 42 could be disassembled into three charges for transport. Its effectiveness allowed it to be used by the Wehrmacht and other units, as well as by the airborne troops for which it was originally intended.

Dragon's 1:6 scale kit is an exquisite replica of this German mortar. It mimics a working mortar by allowing the bipod to be folded up and the legs to be adjusted to any angle desired by the modeler. This mechanism allows the mortar barrel to fire at various angles. The mortar is precisely crafted from plastic parts, but the kit also includes 8 cm mortar shells and a barrel cleaning rod. With all these accessories, Dragon allows modelers to create a dynamic vignette with this mortar as its centerpiece.
