One of the most beautiful automobiles of its time, the Mercedes Benz 540K, was built from 1936 to 1939. Mercedes still displays one example in various parts of the world for advertising purposes. The car had an 8-cylinder engine with a displacement of 5.4 l and weighed no less than 2300 kg. The top speed was a breathtaking 170 km/h. Fuel consumption was 28 to 30 liters per 100 km.
