Manufacturer Aston Martin built only about 21 of these lightweight sports racers between 1934 and 1935.
The Ulster was based on the Aston Martin Mk II but was heavily optimized for racing. The engine, a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder producing approximately 80–90 hp, weighed only about 750 kg and achieved a top speed of approximately 160 km/h, which was extremely fast for the 1930s.
The Ulster was used in many races, such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Mille Miglia, and the Tourist Trophy. The name "Ulster" comes from its great success at the Ulster Tourist Trophy.
