Austria's armed forces possess an impressive variety of armored vehicles. The first armored vehicles came from the Austro-Daimler factory between 1903 and 1905. In the 1930s, the army supplied itself with various Italian tankettes. After the Second World War, modern armored forces emerged, initially equipped with US tanks and French AMX13s, and later with the Kürassier tank destroyer, among others. Today, the German Leopard 2A4 serves as the main battle tank of the Austrian Armed Forces.
