The P-8A's design is similar to that of the commercial 737-800.
It is used for long-range anti-submarine and surface warfare, reconnaissance, intelligence, search and rescue, and surveillance.
It is equipped with an infrared sensor turret and modern radar and is capable of air-to-air refueling.
The P-8 combines advanced weapons systems with low operating costs.
It shares commonality with commercial aircraft, thus providing a cost-effective supply chain for production and spare parts.
The P-8A is currently flown by the US Navy, the Royal Australian Air Force, the British Royal Air Force, the Royal Norwegian Air Force, and the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
The Republic of Korea Navy, the German Navy, and the Royal Canadian Air Force have chosen to incorporate the P-8A into their future fleets.
