The Tatra 815-7 TLF-W is the Bundeswehr's new all-terrain forest firefighting vehicle, designed for operations in difficult terrain. Equipped with a 396 hp Cummins diesel engine, all-wheel drive, and an Allison fully automatic transmission, the 18-ton vehicle offers a wading depth of 110 cm and a gradeability of 78%.
The Rosenbauer body includes a 4,800-liter extinguishing water tank, 180 liters of foam compound, and a pump with a pump-and-roll function that allows water to be discharged while driving. A remote-controlled front turret, self-protection nozzles, and a rollover protection system increase crew safety.
The Bundeswehr is procuring a total of 76 of these vehicles, which will be used both at military training areas and as part of official assistance in civilian forest fires.
