USS Arleigh Burke DDG-51

The Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, equipped with AEGIS guided missiles, are considered the most capable and survivable warships in the U.S. Navy.
This class is of great importance to the Navy; a total of 57 ships are planned.
The first 8,300-ton destroyer of this new class was DDG-51, the Arleigh Burke, which was commissioned on July 4, 1991.
The Arleigh Burke-class hull design reduces the radar cross-section and enables effective defense against aircraft, cruise missiles, and submarines.
