Obrnice (Czech Republic) is home of Eduard, the well-known manufacturer of photo-etched parts used in all areas of modeling.
Since its founding in 1989 demand has steadily increased, and they now also produce aircraft kits, resin accessories and 3D-printed accessories in the highest most detailed quality.

From personal use to the Eduard company

In 1987, two creative minds, Citad Kurak and Vladimir Šulc, began making photo-etched parts for their personal use.
Realizing that these etched parts sold very well on the modeling market they founded the Eduard company in 1989. In 1990 they launched the first self-produced part in 1/48 scale.

A Czech story of success

In 1990 the production went well, so Eduard produced the much sought-after PE parts in other scales, 1/72 and 1/35.
In 1993 came the next significant step: Eduard released the first two model kits of aircraft (Sopwith Schneider and Sopwith Baby) in 1/72 scale.
This was followed in 1994 by the model kit of the popular Fokker E III, a model kit in 1/48.

Expansion with relocation

As Eduard continued to expand the company moved to a larger building in Obrnice in 1997.
Investments were also made in better technology: All-metal injection molds now ensure consistent model quality and longevity in production.
Meanwhile, Eduard is known worldwide in the modeling scene. Their fantastic selection of etched parts and conversion kits for vehicles, ships and aircraft is highly appreciated. Anyone can upgrade their model with Eduard's highly detailed accessories.

Where did the name Eduard come from?

In the 1980s, a series of epoxy models was first released under the name "Eduard", which is the nickname of the company's CEO Vladimir Šulc. This name was later used for the PE parts as well and was applied to the entire company in 1989.
