Written and recorded during the war by officers of the department based on the war diaries: The story of the heavy tank Battalion 654 troops, one of the few stories of an independent army unit is released. In this area, there was still no publications. The war diary of the heavy tank Battalion 654 has survived by very fortunate circumstances in private hands. The Federal Archives there is not and is therefore not for the general public. It is thus also made a piece of war history for the interested reader accessible. The problem with these units is very apparent to the immense number of subordination relations among other army units. This will certainly be one of the reasons, why hardly troops stories of such units were published to date. No large organization felt responsible for these units and thus no later tradition association representing the history of such units was one of his history. These units are mentioned in countless stories Division, but more than these responses was not.
