The Panzer IV was produced from 1937 until the end of the war. It was initially produced only in small numbers, but eventually 8500 of the most-built German tanks. With a short short gun he was originally intended as a support vehicle, but his range of use changed fundamentally with the installation of a long gun. It was the most important German tank in the second half of the war.
