After the occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939, the Germans got the local defense industry and the Panzer 35 (t) and 38 (t) in the hands. Because they were clearly superior to their own models of the types I and II, the Wehrmacht requisitioned these tanks and used them with success from the Polish campaign. It was not until the emergence of the strong over Soviet T-34 battle tanks introduced in the years 1941/42, that they were retired.
