The German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) recently acquired modern Iveco 8x4 hü MRG 20 road tankers through the Bundeswehr Fleet Service (BwFPS) to bring its fuel logistics up to date. These vehicles are based on the robust Iveco X-Way 8x4 chassis (type AT350X48ZY/PS HR OFF) and feature an exceptional axle configuration with a single front axle and three closely spaced rear axles, enabling optimal traction while maintaining a high payload. The heart of the vehicle is the powerful Cursor 11 engine, which produces 480 hp and delivers its power to roads and unpaved paths via a modern 12-speed ZF TraXon transmission.
The tank body is from the German manufacturer Rohr and holds an impressive 20,000 liters of diesel fuel (F-54). It is made of aluminum and equipped with a powerful pump system capable of delivering up to 700 liters per minute. For safe operation, the tanker is equipped with modern ADR hazardous materials equipment, an overfill prevention system, and a precise discharge meter. With a permissible gross weight of approximately 41 tons and a cabin tailored to military requirements, the tanker can be reliably deployed on both paved roads and dirt tracks.
Thanks to these new tankers, the Bundeswehr is able to supply its vehicles, generators, and units with fuel even more flexibly and efficiently. They make a decisive contribution to increasing the troops' logistical capabilities during exercises and operations at home and abroad.
