- Boeing B-52G Stratofortress
The B-52 Stratofortress is the most famous long-range jet-powered strategic bomber in aviation history.
Produced by the American company Boeing since 1955, it has long been a symbol of the Cold War.
It has been the backbone of the US Air Force's Strategic Air Command for several years.
The B-52 was produced in a significant number of versions, gradually evolving the successful project to better meet changing operational requirements.
The G is the most commonly produced B-52 variant and was sold to the S.A.C. delivered since the early 60s.
It was characterized by numerous changes, including a stronger structure, the introduction of new avionics systems and, importantly for a strategic bomber, the greater operational range thanks to the increased fuel capacity and the possibility of introducing external fuel tanks.
The B-52G also took part in Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
