The Supermarine Spitfire was a British single-seat propeller-driven fighter used by the Royal Air Force and other Allied countries before, during and after World War II.
The last Spitfire variant, the Mk 24 resembled the Mk 22 but had a larger fuel capacity than its predecessors. Under the wings were mounts for rocket-propelled grenades.
It had the larger "spiteful" tail surfaces and changes were made to the trim tab gearboxes to improve handling.
It reached a top speed of 731 km/h and could reach an altitude of 9100m in eight minutes.
