The Chengdu J-10AY is based on the advanced development of the J-10A single-seat fighter and was used by the 81st Performance Team of the Chinese Air Force.
Its maiden flight took place in 2009. Its most distinctive feature is a large, bubble-shaped canopy, providing the pilot with excellent visibility.
Without a cannon, the J-10AY features high-precision flight instruments and a smoke system.
The three-tone paint scheme reflects the PLAAF's new look.
