The de Havilland DH.100 Vampire entered service with the Royal Air Force during World War II and was the RAF's second jet fighter after the groundbreaking Gloster Meteor.
Although the Vampire arrived too late to see combat during the war, it served with the RAF's front-line squadrons until 1955 and was used as a trainer until 1966.
The Vampire also served with many air forces around the world, setting firsts and records.
