To address the problems encountered in service with the A-37, the US Air Force presented a plan to modernize the A-37 Super Tweets.
This plan transformed the A-37 into a completely different aircraft: more robust, heavier, and more powerful.
The modernized Dragonfly was designated the A-37B.
Payload and fuel capacity were up to 2.67 tons and 1920 liters, respectively.
The biggest difference between Type A and Type B is the position of the pitot tube, which was relocated to the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer on the Type B.
A refueling probe was installed on the fuselage nose.
On some export models, the probe was shortened or removed entirely.
