The Panavia Tornado was a joint project of Great Britain, West Germany, and Italy. It is a two-seat, twin-engine, variable-sweep fighter aircraft.
The Tornado's maiden flight took place on August 14, 1974, and the first delivery of a Tornado IDS to the German Air Force was on July 27, 1979.
Production ended in 1998; a total of 992 aircraft of all variants were built.
There were three main versions of the Tornado: the Tornado IDS fighter-bomber, which was used as an interceptor and fighter-bomber.
